“Genuine poetry possesses the remarkable ability to communicate before it is fully comprehended.”
On November 11, 2024, the enthusiastic students of Standard III to VI showcased their recitation prowess during a program that coincided with their visiting weekend. The parents were cordially invited to witness this esteemed event. Poetry recitation is an art form that enables the expression of thoughts and profound understanding. It is an ancient tradition among Montfortian Junior students to actively participate in and excel in this discipline. The primary objective of this recitation program is to cultivate a profound appreciation for literature and language, while simultaneously providing a platform for students to enhance their recitation skills.
The essence of this recitation program lies in its multifaceted purpose. It aims to foster self-confidence, develop oratory skills, instill self-esteem, and enhance the students’ ability to memorize poems with meticulous pronunciation, expressive gestures, and evocative emotions. This art form demands dedicated practice, thereby empowering students to improve their public speaking abilities.
The esteemed teachers play a pivotal role in guiding their students towards this recitation event. The Standard III students performed their recitations based on the poem “The Recycling Rap,” while the Standard IV students recited “Be Glad Your Nose is on Your Face,” the Standard V students recited “The Song of Nature,” the Standard VIA students recited “The Tale of Custard the Dragon,” and the Standard VIB students recited “The Road Not Taken.” Each Junior student diligently recited their assigned poem with utmost dedication, utilizing appropriate props and demonstrating their mastery of dramatic skills. The encouraging presence of the parents significantly contributed to the program’s success.
In his speech, Rev.Bro.Principal extended his heartfelt commendation to all the participants and the dedicated teachers who made this event a resounding triumph. He strongly urged the students to actively participate in all such activities, which will not only enhance their overall skills but also nurture their personal growth.
